More than I thought

I have to admit, I'm surprised at how many responses I received privately from friends who either had similar issues with the Mirena, or they had friends who had similar issues with the Mirena.  Most of the ones they responded with were:

Cystic Acne
Gallbladder issues resulting in removal
Brain Fog
Overall achy and tired feeling

Here is an interesting read if anyone is interested in it:

Here is one website from 2006 that specifically lists acne, gallbladder issues as well as other possible side effects.  I'm finding lots of posts that claim many websites that listed these side effects are simply gone now, the links are dead, so I'm surprised to have even found this one.

  1. Hi, Its great you are sharing your experience for others may find themselves in the same position.I used to post on a health site for Mirena issues after I had a bad experience with it. Most people either know what you are talking about or are in denial. Mirena caused a whole host of issues for me when it was in: rage, brain fog, weight gain, palps, night sweats, hot flashes, etc. It was bad. I had no idea until I started googling Mirena issues that it also caused issues after it is removed. For me it was a worsening on neurological problems that I already had prior to Mirena. The neurologist said it should never have been prescribed for someone with neurological deficits like me as it can compound those issues. I developed a heart condition after removal and was in and out of the hospital for a few years after removal. Its been 5 years and my body is finally getting back in order. The weight issue never went away. I dont gain anymore but my body changed permanently. My brain too is forever changed by the chemical issues that were created with Mirena. It caused my body to become estrogen dominant and progesterone deficient which is why the symptoms develop in the first place. The Mirena chemicals do pass in to many of our bodies despite the drug makers claiming this is rare. If you look right on the docs prescribing info it lists weight gain as a problem despite many dpoctors denying it. Mirena is the bread and butter of the Gyno's and they care little about your well being putting you on this. It is common practice for most Gyno's to ignore the adverse side effects and deny them when a patient comes to them complaining of thatissue. Anyone who is on it who thinks its great usually is in denial about that 10 lbs. of sudden weight gain and those headaches they all of a sudden started getting. Its sad but true. So glad you have seen the light and are letting your body remain in recovery from this horrible product.
